Two decks are introduced. One is given to an audience member the other is taken out of the card box and given to a spectator to shuffle. You then instruct them to start dealing the cards face up onto the table from the face down deck they hold one at a time or groups of cards at a time. Then at any time deal one card face down onto the face up cards and then continue dealing the cards face up until it is complete. This is the only card they have not seen so no one knows the value of the card. Ribbon spread the deck on to the table so they can see one card is face down.
You then ask the person that has been holding the other deck to hand it to you. You remove the deck from the box. You then say to audience that prior to starting this effect you had placed one card face down in the deck the spectator was holding so there is no way for me to know the card you stopped on. You then spread through your deck, faces to the audience to reveal to them one face down card. Ask the person who helped to begin with to turn over their face down card. You then reveal to them your face down card and they match.
